Police In Adamawa Arrest Vigilante For Impersonation, Extortion
A 27 years old Shafiu Abdulkadir, resident of Anguwan Yelwa, Yola North Local Government area of Adamawa State has been arrested for impersonation as a police officer and extorting members of the public.
The spokesman of the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje in a statement said the suspect was arrested on on 26th September 2024 while extorting money from Tricyclists along Aliyu Mustapha Flyover and around Jimeta Modern Market.
“The arrest was a follow-up to the information regarding the activities of some Vigilante men going around threatening and extorting Keke riders.
“Upon the arrest , the suspect was found wearing police Camouflage trouser, a black shirt with the inscription “Special Force,” and boots,” the statement said.
The statement quoted Commissioner of Police in the State CP Morris Dankwambo of assuring the public that the police Command remains committed to ensuring safety and order.
The CP while urging members of the public to continue giving timely and useful information to Police, said the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
