NYSC extends service year of three Batch ‘A’ Steam 2 corps members in Sokoto

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has prolonged the service duration of three individuals who served in Sokoto due to their absence and inappropriate behavior.

Usman Yakubu-Yaro, the NYSC coordinator in Sokoto, revealed this while distributing certificates to the 2023 Batch ‘A’ Stream 2 youth corps members on Thursday. He emphasized the NYSC’s strict stance against truancy, asserting that erring members would face consequences.

Yakubu-Yaro noted that out of the 618 youth corps members who fulfilled the one-year mandatory service, 351 were male, and 267 were female. He commended those who displayed commendable conduct throughout the year.

The coordinator highlighted the NYSC’s initiative to deploy a significant number of corps members to schools for teaching roles and to rural areas for medical services, emphasizing the critical need in these sectors.

He encouraged outgoing corps members to represent the NYSC positively and utilize the skills acquired during their service year. Yakubu-Yaro underscored the scarcity of white-collar jobs, urging them to explore alternative opportunities.
