Nursing Mothers To Enjoy Six Months Maternity Leave In Niger State

Nursing mothers in the Niger state’s civil service are to enjoy six months maternity leave to adequately care for themselves as well as their newborns.

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago approved during the State Executive Council meeting at the Council Chamber of Government House, Minna.

“The policy was approved as part of efforts aimed at protecting maternal and child health in line with international best practices.

“The six months’ maternity leave is aimed at affording women ample time to take good care of themselves and their newborns, as well as help them become more productive when they resume,” Bago explained.

The Governor then directed the Head of Service, Abubakar Sadiq Idris, to work out modalities for the proper implementation of the policy.
