NUJ Adamawa State Council Inaugurates Credentials Committee

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Adamawa state chapter, Saturday inaugurated Credentials Committee with mandate to conduct elections that will usher in new Executives.

The credentials committee under the chairmanship of Yunusa Abdullahi from Information Chapel has Gloria Abutu of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria Fombina Radio as secretary and Hassan Umar Shallpella of Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, ABC Yola as member.

Inaugurating the committee at the NUJ Press Centre, Yola, State Chairman of the union, Comrade Ishaka Donald Dedan said the committee was set up in-line with constitution of the NUJ, and urged the committee to conduct the election before 18th June 2025, stressed the need for smooth handing over of the leadership to credible people.

Comrade Dedan urged aspirants vying various positions not engage in character assassination or use the election to settle personal scores, noting that NUJ election should not be seen as do or die affair.

Responding on behalf of the committee, the Chairman, Yunusa Abdullahi while appreciating the trust bestowed on them by the state NUJ, assured that the committee will adhere to NUJ constitution to conduct an acceptable, free and fair election.

Abdullahi solicits for support from members of NUJ to ensure successful conduct of the election.

In a goodwill message, a veteran, Mohammed Saidu called for sustenance of success recorded by the outgoing leadership, urged contestants to conduct themselves with decorum, describing members of credentials committee as credible persons.

He urged the committee members to be guided by the constitution while discharging their duties.

Also speaking, the state Chairman of Correspondent’ Chapel, Ibrahim Kado, urged the committee to avoid sentiments and work based on the NUJ constitution.

In her remarks, one of the state officials of NUJ, Joy Diamond, congratulated the committee, and urged them to bring their wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of their duty.
