NSCDC Arrest Fourteen Suspected Herders In Adamawa

Fourteen suspected herders have been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Adamawa State Command for violating the Executive Order banning transhumance movement across the state until 1st January 2026.

The spokesman of the Command, DSC NYAKO AMIDU BABA, while briefing Journalists at the Headquarters of NSCDC Yola, said the operation was carried out in collaboration with some sister security agencies.
He said NSCDC personnel, Hong Divisional Office in demonstrating the Corps’ unwavering commitment of directive of the NSCDC Adamawa State Commandant ID BANDE of enforcement of order of Governor of Adamawa State made the arrest.
Nyako said the action serves as a stern warning to individuals or groups contemplating similar violations, stressing that NSCDC is resolute in its mission to uphold the law and will continue working tirelessly to ensure compliance with the Executive Order.
“The Executive Order was issued to safeguard public safety and security and to prevent farmer-herder clashes that often result from unauthorized movements. Acting on this directive, Commandant ID BANDE instructed the immediate enforcement of the ban across all 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Adamawa State.
“During a preliminary investigation, it was revealed that some of the arrested individuals are not indigenous to Adamawa State, further emphasizing the importance of enforcing the ban to prevent external disruptions to the state’s peace and stability,” he said.
The Command’s spokesman said the suspects would be prosecuted in a court of competent jurisdiction upon completion of investigations.
Commandant Bande then reiterated the Corps’ dedication to fostering peace and security in the state and urged residents and stakeholders to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in maintaining law and order.
