The Nigeria Local Coalition Accelerator has launched a social enterprise that signals a shift from donor dependency toward self-sustaining revenue generation, with the first batches of groundnut oil and processed peanuts already rolling off production lines in Yola.
Local Coalition Agro Processing and Export Services was successfully registered under the Companies and Allied Matters Act with the Corporate Affairs Commission this week, marking what NLCA Coordinator Sir Richard Inyamkume described as a major milestone in the organisation’s 2026 strategic pillars focused on resource mobilisation and local sourcing.
The achievement represents more than just another registered company. It demonstrates what Inyamkume called “the power of local leadership, cooperative resource mobilisation, and strategic partnerships in building sustainable African solutions” that don’t rely exclusively on external funding.
Through pooled contributions from members under the NLCA Multipurpose Cooperative Society, the coalition has procured a groundnut oil processing machine with a production capacity of five tonnes per day or more, a peanut processing machine, office space, a production centre, and storage facilities within the Kahyel Integrated Services premises in Yola.
Kahyel Integrated Services Limited, the Adamawa-based consulting firm serving as NLCA’s technical partner, brings expertise that bridges the gap between cooperative ambition and commercial-grade production standards. That partnership matters when transitioning from small-scale processing to operations capable of meeting export quality requirements.
NLCA has constituted an Enterprise Development Committee comprising two representatives from each member organisation to provide oversight and strategic support. The governance structure suggests recognition that cooperative enterprises require careful management to balance member interests, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability.
