Nine Injured In Ogun Explosion, Factory Sealed

The Ogun State Government has sealed up Phoenix Steel Mills Industries Limited in Ogijo in the Sagamu Local Government area of the state following a gas explosion that rocked the factory on Saturday, March 9.

The police on Sunday, in a statement, confirmed a case of an industrial accident that occurred in the company at about 9.38 p.m., saying nine workers were injured.

According to an eyewitness account, the blast was attributed to a cylinder explosion that happened at the melting point area, affecting nine staff members who sustained injuries.

Enraged youth of the community were said to have attempted to attack the company, but the combined efforts of the police and detachment of soldiers from the 174 Battalion at Odogunyan, Ikorodu, saved the day.
