May 1 Declared Public Holiday for Workers’ Day – FG

The Federal Government has officially declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday in honour of this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.

This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

Highlighting the importance of peace in fostering industrial growth and economic progress, Dr. Tunji-Ojo praised Nigerian workers for their steadfast commitment and contributions to the nation’s development. He acknowledged that their dedication plays a significant role in Nigeria’s growing reputation on the global stage.

“There is dignity in labour,” the Minister said. “Our commitment to our daily work is a vital ingredient for building the Nigeria we all dream of.”

He called on workers across the country to embrace a mindset of innovation and productivity, urging them to set higher standards in their professions to enhance national development and improve governance outcomes.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also reassured citizens of the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all Nigerians and foreigners living in the country.

As he extended his best wishes for a joyful Workers’ Day celebration, the Minister encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful, affirming the Tinubu-led administration’s dedication to the “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
