Just In: Popular Anglican Reverend stabbed to death

Rev. Isaac Umurie, a clergyman affiliated with St. John’s Anglican Church in Okpare-Olomu, met a tragic end when he was fatally stabbed by his own 28-year-old son, Ufuoma Umurie, in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State. The appalling incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday while the priest was asleep.

Reports indicate that around 2am, Ufuoma used a cutlass to brutally attack his father, hacking his skull and other parts of his body. His mother, who tried to intervene to save her husband, narrowly escaped being harmed herself. It was a terrifying scene that unfolded before neighbors and church members could intervene and access the apartment.

According to sources within the community, Ufuoma had a history of mental instability, and disturbingly, this was not the first time he had targeted his father in such a violent manner. The motive behind this horrific act remains unclear, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the tragic incident. Ufuoma is currently in police custody as investigations into the case continue.
