Islamic Teacher In Police Net Over Allege Homosexuality

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old Mallam Idris Abubakar resident of Gaya ward in Mubi South local government area over allegation of committing homosexuality with teenagers.

SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Command Police Public Relations Officer who confirmed the arrest said the Commissioner of Police has ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter.

He added that the suspect would be prosecuted upon completion of investigation, while the victims would continue taking medication, and reminded parents of their responsibilities of educating, provision of shelter and welfare of their children.

Narrating their ordeal, the victims ages 12 and 10 years, said the suspect who teaches them Islamic lessons engaged them in menial domestic work and then instructed them to massage his body before committing the act of homosexuality.

According to them, he cautioned them not to reveal to anyone, but failure to adhere will attract severe beating and other consequences.

On his part, the accused Mallam Idris Abubakar, admitted of engaging the pupils in menial domestic work, but denied of committing homosexuality with them.
