CORRUPT PRACTICES: ICPC Urges Revenue Agencies to Imbibe Integrity for Better Public Service Delivery

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has decried that leakages, diversion of taxpayers’ funds, and corrupt tendencies in revenue generating agencies are responsible for poor public service delivery.

ICPC stated this during a sensitization workshop with the theme “Promoting Transparency, Accountability, and Integrity in Revenue Generation” held in Maiduguri. It observed that corrupt practices in revenue agencies erodes confidence in government, impact negatively on education, health, and deprive employment opportunities for youths.

The ICPC Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner for Borno and Yobe states, Linus Gubbi, urged revenue agencies in the Northeast region to avoid manipulation of taxpayer data, extortion, and collusion with taxpayers, warning that the financial consequences outweigh its benefits.

He appealed for partnership and collaboration for effective public service delivery for conflict affected regions and other citizenry.
