Adamawa Police Confirm Madagali Attack, Launch Joint Rescue Operation

The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed a terrorist attack on Gare Village in the Pallam District of Madagali Local Government Area in the early hours of Monday 26th January, 2026.

The attack, carried out by suspected terrorists, resulted in the abduction of six (6) family members and the rustling of an unspecified number of livestock.

Upon receipt of the distress report, the Command immediately mobilized and intensified collaboration with sister security agencies. Additional police personnel and operational assets were deployed to the area in a swift joint operation involving the Nigeria Police Force, Troops of the 144 Battalion, and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said “The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Dankombo Morris, PSC(+), has directed sustained search-and-rescue operations, reinforced patrols, and heightened security presence across Madagali and other border communities. The objective is to ensure the safe rescue and return of the victims and to prevent further threats to lives and property,” the statement read.

Adamawa Police Confirm Madagali Attack

The Command reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to security. “The Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other sister security agencies, remains fully committed to protecting lives and properties across the State,” SP Nguroje affirmed.

The security forces are currently combing the affected area and surrounding communities. Further updates on the operation will be communicated to the public.
