Adamawa Governor Imposes 24-Hour Curfew on Lamurde LGA Following Violent Attacks

In response to renewed violent attacks and a significant breach of peace in several communities, Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area with immediate effect.

The announcement was made on Sunday 8th March 2026 in a statement signed by the Governor’s Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou. The Governor declared that the measure became necessary to stem the tide of violence, protect lives and property, and restore order to the troubled area.

“Government views these disturbances as unacceptable and has directed security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly,” Governor Fintiri stated. He issued a stern warning that any individual or group found contravening this directive will be arrested and dealt with according to the law.

The curfew, which took effect immediately, will remain in place until further notice. Governor Fintiri has directed security agencies to deploy personnel to enforce the order and maintain law and order throughout the Local Government Area.

In the statement, the Governor emphasized that his administration will not condone acts of violence and is prepared to take all necessary measures to restore lasting peace. He appealed directly to the residents of Lamurde to cooperate fully with security operatives to help restore normalcy.

“The Government is committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring the safety of all citizens,” the statement read.

Residents are urged to remain indoors and abide by the curfew. The government also called on community members to provide security agencies with useful information that could lead to the apprehension of those perpetuating the violence, in a bid to ensure peaceful coexistence among all communities in the area.
