Senator Binos Yero Quits Peoples Democratic Party, Cites National Party Crisis

The political landscape of Adamawa South has been jolted following the resignation of its representative in the National Assembly, Senator Binos Yero, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Senator Yero, who represents the Adamawa South Senatorial District, announced his withdrawal from the party on Thursday, citing an irreversible drift toward “self-destruction” at the national level.

In a statement made available to newsmen, the lawmaker expressed regret over his decision but maintained that the current state of the party left him with no other option.

“After many years of fruitful journey as a committed member of the PDP, it pains me that the party has elected to self-destruct at the national level,” the statement read.

“In consequence, I have very little choice than to withdraw my membership of the Party at this point.”

Confirming that he had officially notified the party structure of his decision, Senator Yero stated that he had submitted his formal resignation letter to his ward chairman in Mayo-Belwa (Mbilla) Ward, with copies forwarded to the Local Government and State Chairmen of the party.

The senator assured the public that the resignation letter is self-explanatory, detailing his reasons for parting ways with the main opposition party after decades of association.

As of the time of filing this report, the State Working Committee of the PDP in Adamawa had yet to issue an official response regarding the senator’s departure or the status of his membership.

Senator Yero’s exit adds to the list of prominent figures who have recently distanced themselves from the party amid ongoing internal conflicts and leadership tussles within its National Working Committee.

Political analysts suggest this move could significantly alter the balance of power in the senatorial district ahead of future elections.
