Yola Diocese Ordains Three New Priests Amid Call to Faithful Service

In a solemn and joyous ceremony, Rev. Fr. Paulinus George Hammawa, Rev. Fr. George Martins Yirau, and Rev. Fr. ThankGod Enebechi Michael were ordained into the Presbyterate, marking a significant moment for the local church.

Bishop Mamza in his homily charged the newly ordained to live up to the sacred calling of ministering the sacraments, particularly emphasizing the importance of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. He urged them to be “worthy co-workers with the bishops in shepherding God’s flock,” reminding them that their primary duty is to serve God’s people with humility, dedication, and selflessness.

However, the Bishop also issued a firm warning against any conduct that could derail the work of Christ. He admonished the priests to avoid indulging in acts contrary to their vocation and to remain steadfast in teaching the Catholic faith authentically.

“Serving God’s people is a privilege that demands total commitment,” Bishop Mamza stated. “You must grow daily in unity with Christ, who offered Himself as a pure sacrifice for humanity’s salvation. Your life must be anchored in steadfast prayer.”

The atmosphere was electrifying as the faithful thronged the church, offering prayers and songs of thanksgiving to support the new priests. The rite of ordination, including the laying on of hands and the prayer of consecration, was met with reverent silence followed by joyful applause.

The newly ordained Reverends Fathers Hammawa, Yirau, and Michael will now take up their respective apostolic assignments within the diocese, embarking on their ministry of word, sacrament, and pastoral care.
