Police Honours Ganye Council Chairman, 44 Others for Security Excellence

In a bid to strengthen the synergy between the police and the public, the Adamawa State Police Command has conferred awards of excellence on the Chairman of Ganye Local Government Council, Hon. Farouk Mohammed, alongside 44 other recipients for their outstanding contributions to security management in the state.

The ceremony, which took place at the Police Officers’ Mess in Yola, was designed to recognize gallant officers and men of the command, as well as civilian stakeholders who have played pivotal roles in the security architecture of Adamawa over the past year.

A total of 21 police-friendly stakeholders were honoured for their partnership in providing security across the state. Among the prominent awardees was the Chairman of Ganye LGA, Hon. Farouk Mohammed, who was recognised alongside the Zonal Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Attah Mark Mustapha.

In a parallel category, 24 police officers were decorated across various divisions for their exceptional professionalism, bravery, and dedication to duty.

Hon. Farouk Mohammed arrived at the venue to a warm reception, accompanied by his political aides, a representative of the Gangwari Ganye, several District Heads, as well as family members and well-wishers. Visibly elated by the honour, the council chairman described the recognition as a significant morale booster.

“This recognition will further spur me to do more for my people in terms of security of lives and property,” Mohammed said.

Stakeholders who accompanied the Ganye chairman commended his relentless efforts in supporting the fight against crimes and criminalities, noting that his influence and collaboration have had a positive impact not only in Ganye chiefdom but across the entire Adamawa state.

The awards were the brainchild of the Commissioner of Police, CP Maurice Dankwambo, who initiated the programme to celebrate excellence within the command and its partners. Speaking at the event, CP Dankwambo praised the awardees for their courage and continued partnership, stressing that merit and excellence remain central to the command’s operational philosophy.

He highlighted the command’s achievements within the period under review, which include the successful rescue of abducted victims, the dismantling of kidnapping syndicates, the recovery of illegal firearms and stolen vehicles, and intelligence-led arrests of high-profile criminals.

CP Dankwambo also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining collaboration with communities and relevant stakeholders to ensure lasting peace, security, and public safety across Adamawa State.
