Fintiri Pledges Power, Flags Off Roads in Guyuk, Directs 6-Month Electrification Deadline

The administration’s ongoing tour of local governments reached Guyuk on Tuesday 10th February 2026, with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri announcing major infrastructure projects aimed at tackling decades of neglect in some parts of the area.

The Governor issued a six-month directive for the electrification of two long-marginaliszed wards and officially commenced the construction of an eight-kilometre road, highlighting his administration’s focus on rural development.

Governor Fintiri, accompanied by his Deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, and top government officials, gave the order during a stakeholders’ meeting. He instructed the Commissioner for Rural Infrastructure and Community Development, Mr. Titus Obadiah, to ensure Bobini and Bodeno wards are connected to the national grid within half a year.

The directive came in response to passionate appeals from community leaders, who lamented that the wards have existed without electricity since their creation.

“I have directed the Commissioner for Rural Infrastructure to, within the next six months, ensure that Bobini and Bodeno are connected to the national grid,” Governor Fintiri declared.

In a significant move for connectivity and commerce, the Governor also flagged off the construction of the 8-kilometre Banjiram-Chikila road, a project repeatedly demanded by residents. He described it as critical for improving access, easing transportation, and boosting local economic activities.

Further urban infrastructure plans were unveiled, including the construction of 2.5 kilometres of township roads within Guyuk metropolitan area. The Governor also assured residents that the second phase of rehabilitation for Guyuk Cottage Hospital would soon commence, aiming to upgrade it to a General Hospital.

He urged the Commissioner for Water Resources to expedite the ongoing water supply project to ensure households get potable water.

Reaffirming his commitment to inclusive governance, Governor Fintiri stated, “My administration will continue to serve all citizens fairly, regardless of political affiliation,” and asked for the sustained support of the Guyuk people.

Earlier, the Governor paid a courtesy visit to the Kwandi Nunguraya, Kuruhaye Dishon Dansanda II. The royal father expressed gratitude for the hospital and water projects but strongly appealed for the electrification of Bobini and Bodeno, calling it a long-overdue necessity.

The Chairman of Guyuk Local Government Council, Barrister Kasa Shalom, and other stakeholders lauded the Governor for the developmental strides in the area, listing several completed projects, including a new Local Education Authority office and the Kwadadai Health Clinic, which was commissioned during the visit.

The Guyuk visit is part of Governor Fintiri’s sweeping tour of all 21 local government areas in the state, designed to assess needs firsthand and reaffirm commitments to grassroots development.
