SDP Adamawa Governorship Hopeful Hosts Party Stalwarts, Charts Course for 2027.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship hopeful in Adamawa State come 2027 Gubernatorial election Wafarniyi Theman has hosted a strategic dinner in honour of Prince Adewole Adebayo, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, in a significant gathering aimed at consolidating strategy and reaffirming ideological commitment.

The dinner, which brought together some party faithful and key stakeholders, served as a platform to review the SDP’s national standing, its philosophical stance, and to formulate a robust approach for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Addressing attendees, The Adamawa state Governorship hopeful Wafarniyi Theman positioned the SDP as the much-needed alternative for genuine democratic governance in Nigeria. He praised Prince Adewole as a true democrat whose consistent loyalty to the party, without defection, stands as a model in Nigeria’s often volatile political landscape.

“The SDP is waxing stronger by the day here in Adamawa and across the nation,” Theman declared. “We call on the electorate to look beyond the traditional parties and see the SDP as the best alternative for accountable and people-focused governance. Nigerians yearn for substance, and we are poised to provide it.”

In his response, Prince Adewole Adebayo issued a reflective and critical assessment of the nation’s democratic journey. He made a clarion call for Nigerians to introspect on whether the populace is truly enjoying the dividends of democracy nearly 25 years into the Fourth Republic.

“It is time for a sincere national conversation,” Adewole stated. “We must look inward and ask the hard questions: are the promises of democracy—security, welfare, justice, and prosperity—being fulfilled for the average citizen? The SDP’s mission is to translate these democratic promises into tangible realities.”

Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung, who was also present, tasked Nigerians with making a fundamental choice between development and stagnation. The former minister in President Muhammadu Buhari’s first term accused the political class of prioritizing personal aggrandizement over national interest.

“The nation is still on its knees, begging for the dividends of democracy,” Barrister Dalung asserted. “Our political landscape is filled with individuals more interested in personal gain than patriotic duty. Unless Nigerians change their attitudes and electoral choices, the country’s genuine quest for democratic dividends will remain a mirage.”

Political observers view the dinner as more than a social gathering; it is a strategic alignment signaling the SDP’s intent to build a cohesive and ideologically defined front ahead of the 2027 polls. By rallying around Prince Adewole, a figure associated with legal acumen and consistent party ideology, the SDP in Adamawa and potentially at the national level is seeking to project stability and principle.
