Hon. Peace Samson Audu Sworn In as the first Chairperson in Fufore LGA  After Weeks of Delay and Political Tension

The Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has officially sworn in  Hon Peace Samson Audu as the substantive Chairperson of Fufore Local Government Area. The long-awaited ceremony took place at the Council Chamber of the Government House, Yola, bringing an end to weeks of political uncertainty and public debate.

Her swearing-in follows the death of the former Chairman, Hon. Shuaibu Baba, on April 23, 2025. In the weeks that followed, the process of succession was fraught with delay, stirring widespread speculation and heated discourse across social media and local political groups.

For many in Fufore and beyond, the delay raised concerns about fairness and due process. Various online posts and blog articles suggested that underlying issues of religious and gender bias may have played a role in the holdup. Observers noted that although the Nigerian Constitution mandates a clear line of succession, the council had yet to act swiftly—leading to mounting public pressure on state authorities to do the right thing.

While some reportedly pushed for alternative candidates, community voices and constitutional advocates continued to call for justice and transparency in the process. Many pointed to similar past scenarios in other local governments where succession had been handled promptly, regardless of the background of the incoming leader.

Peace Samson Audu’s eventual confirmation and swearing-in now bring a sense of closure to the political tension. As the first Christian woman to assume the chairmanship of Fufore LGA, her emergence is seen by many as a victory for inclusion, lawfulness, and the democratic process

As she takes on this leadership mantle, stakeholders across the state are watching closely to see how she will navigate the responsibilities ahead—especially after such a politically charged beginning.
