Governor Fintiri secures $45m EU-UNICEF SARAH project for Adamawa

Adamawa State, located in Northeast Nigeria, has been chosen alongside two other states to execute the $45 million EU-UNICEF Strengthening Access to Reproductive and Adolescent Health (SARAH) project. Recently, the state’s health delegation, led by Honorable Commissioner of Health Felix Tangwami, participated in the National Inception Meeting for the initiative in Abuja from July 1st to 2nd, 2024.

Commissioner Tangwami expressed gratitude for Governor Fintiri’s steadfast leadership and backing, reaffirming Adamawa State’s health sector’s unwavering dedication to achieving the SARAH project’s outlined goals and milestones.

Dr. Sulaiman Bashir, Executive Chairman of Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, commended Governor Fintiri’s proactive advocacy and engagement efforts with key stakeholders such as UNICEF Country Representative Ms. Christian Munduate and other donors. These initiatives have notably attracted substantial partnerships and resources to the state.

Dr. Bashir emphasized that the SARAH project aims to enhance the health and overall well-being of Adamawa State’s residents by tackling critical issues related to reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health as well as nutrition challenges.

The $45 million SARAH project is set to be implemented across Adamawa, Kwara, and Sokoto states within Nigeria. This milestone underscores Governor Fintiri’s strong commitment to bolstering the health sector and uplifting the quality of life for the people of Adamawa State.
