Governor Fintiri urges youths shun lawlessness

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has urged youths to promote unity and peaceful coexistence and and shun lawlessness.

The Governor made the plea Wednesday during peace mission to areas affected by conflict in Lamurde local government area due to recent crisis between Gyakan and Chobo communities that resulted in loss of lives and properties.

Represented by his Deputy Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, the Governor emphasized the importance of peace for socio-economic development to thrive, stressing that no meaningful development will take place in a chaotic environment..

Fintiri warned that his administration will not tolerate lawlessness from any groups or individuals and sympathize with the victims receiving medication at Suwa primary health centre and Numan General hospital.
Also speaking, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Morris Dankwombo, assured the command’s commitment of securing and safeguarding lives and properties of people of Adamawa state.
In their separate responses, the Community leaders appreciated government’s prompt action and appealed for more medical supplies and relief items to those affected by the conflict.
It was gathered that the crisis in Lamurde was sparked by a woman’s alleged to be involved in fetish activities, resulted into confrontation between her host community and neighbours.
It was further learnt that the accused woman, alleged to be involved in fetish activities has been arrested by Police.
