Gov. Fintiri Declares 24-Hour Curfew in Lamurde LGA Over Security Concerns

In a swift move to quell rising unrest, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area, effective immediately.

The decision follows reports of violent disturbances and growing threats to peace in several communities within the LGA. The Governor, in a strong statement, described the situation as unacceptable, directing security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly and without exception.

“Government views these disturbances as a serious threat to law and order,” Governor Fintiri said. “Anyone or any group found violating the curfew will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.”

The curfew will remain in effect until further notice. Security operatives have been mobilized to the area to restore calm and prevent further escalation. Residents have been urged to remain indoors, comply with the curfew directive, and cooperate with security personnel by providing credible information that could aid peace efforts.

Governor Fintiri reiterated his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring the people of Lamurde and Adamawa State at large that peace and security remain a top priority.

He also called on community members to avoid spreading rumors or inciting tension, emphasizing the need for unity and collective responsibility in maintaining order.

“The Government will not tolerate any form of violence. We must all work together to ensure peace returns to Lamurde,” the Governor appealed.
