Father arrested for selling biological children, 2 weeks old babies
The Nigerian Police Force, Sokoto state command Thursday paraded Kulu Dogonyaro, Elizabeth Ojah Bala Abubakar and 7 others for allegedly committing various offenses which included murder, kidnapping and impersonation.
Parading the suspect, the state commissioner of police, Alhaji Ali Hayatu Kaigama, said that Kuli Dongonyaro and Elizabeth Ojah were arrested in Abuja in possession of 5 children among whom a 2-weeks-old infant.
Narrating the incident, CP Kaigama said the that some good Samaritans names withheld who were traveling in the same commercial vehicle with the suspects were suspicious on the way and method the infant was fed throughout the journey.
According them, the baby was fed with powdered milk instead of the traditional breast feeding. Whenever the baby was crying instead of the suspects to breast feed him, they would bring out powdered milk to feed the baby and that fuel suspicion whether they’re the real parent.
He said that the co -travelers out of patriotism decided to report the issue to a police station in Abuja
According to him, the throughout the journey, which lasted for almost 10 hours, the 2 weeks infant was fed with powdered milk instead of breast feeding
“Having observed the unusual feeding method, the driver of the vehicle and some good Samaritans decided to drive to the nearest police station to report the matter.
“While at the station, the suspect claimed that the children were willingly given to them by their parents at sokoto to enable them handover to a Non-Governmental Organization for their up keep and schooling at Abuja,” the CP disclosed
After interrogations, the police in Abuja transferred the suspects and victims back to Sokoto for further investigation.
CP kaigama also said that in the course of Investigation, one Bala Abubakar of Tudun Wada area who allegedly supply the victims to the suspects were arrested
He said that further investigation revealed that Abubakar Bala had been in the business for a long period of time and the 5 toddlers were not the first victims CP Kaigama said that in the course of investigation, 21 other kidnapped children allegedly kidnapped by Bala Abubakar and his conspirators were also rescued.
According him, the 21 kidnapped victims were rescued in some states in the country.
He said that mothers of the first 5 rescued victims were traced and all confirmed knowing Mrs. Kulu in Sokoto.
“The mothers are all widows who were deceived to part with their children under
the pretence that they will be handed over to an Abuja Based NGO which is willing to shoulder the responsibilities of their welfare and upbringing.
CP Kaigama said in the course of investigation, 21 other kidnapped children were also rescued. (Blue Print).
