Eid-el-Fitr: Fintiri Urges Unity, Tolerance Among Nigerians

The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.

In a goodwill message to residents, Governor Fintiri emphasized that Nigeria’s progress depends largely on the ability of its citizens to rise above ethnic and religious differences. He noted that the values of love, forgiveness, and brotherhood demonstrated during the holy month of Ramadan should be sustained beyond the festive period.

According to the governor, fostering peace, fairness, and unity remains critical to building a stronger and more united nation. He urged Nigerians to prioritize harmonious living, stressing that such collective responsibility is key to overcoming the country’s current challenges.

Fintiri also expressed concern over recent security developments in parts of the country, calling on traditional and religious leaders to intensify efforts in promoting vigilance and public safety during and after the Sallah celebrations. He advised citizens to remain security conscious and avoid crowded places.

Highlighting the significance of the celebration, the governor said Eid-el-Fitr serves as a reminder of devotion to Allah and the importance of showing compassion and respect for one another. He added that national growth can only be achieved through shared responsibility, mutual respect, and service to humanity.

The governor commended residents of Adamawa State for maintaining peaceful coexistence despite diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds. He acknowledged ongoing economic challenges but pointed to notable developmental strides recorded in the state over the past seven years.

Fintiri further called on citizens to continue supporting government initiatives aimed at inclusive development, assuring that his administration remains committed to improving the welfare of all residents.

He also praised security agencies for their efforts in sustaining peace and stability in the state, expressing confidence that greater achievements are possible through collective commitment.

The statement was issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, on March 19, 2026.
