Governor Fintiri Joins Muslim Faithful in Gulak to Celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, Calls for Unity and Peace

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State joined the Muslim community in Gulak, Madagali Local Government Area, to observe the Eid-el-Fitr festival, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The celebration, held at the central prayer ground in Gulak, brought together hundreds of faithful who gathered to offer the two raka’at Eid prayer. Speaking shortly after the prayers, Governor Fintiri emphasized the vital importance of national cohesion, urging Nigerians to continue supporting efforts aimed at sustaining peace across the country.

The governor used the occasion to commend the Nigerian Armed Forces for their bravery and sacrifice in protecting the nation’s territorial integrity, particularly in the fight against insurgency. He described the military’s role as critical to Nigeria’s stability, noting that the relative peace now enjoyed in Madagali—once a major hotspot of insurgent activities—is a testament to the resilience and dedication of security personnel.

“We must acknowledge the courage of our security forces. Their efforts have restored hope to communities that were once inaccessible,” Fintiri said. He called on citizens to complement the military’s efforts by remaining vigilant, cooperating with security agencies, and sharing timely information.

Beyond the prayers and official remarks, the governor participated in cultural activities, including a symbolic horse-riding display—a tradition that reflects the rich heritage of the North-East and signals a renewed sense of normalcy in the area.

The Eid celebration in Gulak highlighted the growing stability in the region, with residents expressing gratitude for the improved security that allowed them to mark the festival in peace.
