Benue Tensions as LG Chair Halts Akume Thanksgiving

The suspension of a thanksgiving service for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, by the Guma Local Government Area Chairman, Unongu Simon, is causing anxiety in Benue State.

The service was scheduled for Sunday and was to be followed by a reception for the SGF.

In a radio announcement, Unongo directed NKST Church, Daudu, to hold off the event for security reasons.

He advised that any public function in the area must get approval from his office.

However, the organizers said they will proceed with the thanksgiving service as planned, insisting nobody can stop them. You may also like this news.

A committee member, Lazarus Asema, stated that the venue and time for the service remain unchanged at NKST Church Daudu.

The host community, Daudu, is near Makurdi, the Benue State capital, and houses an IDP camp due to herdsmen attacks on farming communities.
