Bandits Kidnap Ex-NYSC DG Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga in Katsina, One Dead

Suspected  bandits have abducted retired Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga, the former Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), alongside at least nine other victims in Tsiga village, located in the Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State. The assailants also killed one individual during the attack.

The incident took place early Thursday morning, around 12:30 a.m., when the bandits stormed the community. Sources reveal that the attackers initially intended to operate without gunfire, but one of them opened fire, prompting a fatal confrontation that resulted in his death at the hands of his fellow criminals.

In a disturbing turn, the bandits forced the remaining victims, including the former NYSC boss, to transport the deceased’s body into the nearby forest. The attack has left the local community in shock, particularly due to the high-profile abduction of Brigadier General Tsiga, a respected figure known for his contributions to the nation and his work in philanthropy and business.

Bakori Local Government Area has been grappling with a rise in security challenges, including similar bandit attacks that have resulted in deaths, abductions, and cattle rustling in recent months.

The state police spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, has yet to respond to inquiries regarding the incident.

The abduction of such a prominent figure underscores the growing security threat in the region, leaving many residents worried about the safety of their communities.
