Back to Business: Jimeta Modern Market Reopens After Demolition

The Jimeta Ultra Modern Market, located in Yola North Local Government Area, was officially reopened today, Tuesday, 24th September 2025, at around 10:00 AM, following days of closure.
The market had been shut down last, when the Adamawa State Government embarked on a massive demolition exercise. Over 2,000 illegal shops and attachments were pulled down for breaching the market’s original master plan.
Mr. John Juntuwa, Chairman of the Market Restoration Committee, while briefing journalists, explained that the demolition was aimed at restoring order in the market. According to him, the illegal structures had caused congestion, blocked access routes, and disrupted the free movement of both customers and vehicles.
A video from the reopening shows enthusiastic traders and buyers trooping into the market as activities gradually resume, signaling a fresh start for the commercial hub.
