Appeal Court Sacked Adamawa North’s Senator Abbo Ishaku
The Court of Appeal’s Abuja Division on Monday removed Senator Elisha Abbo, who represented Adamawa North Senatorial District. The three-member panel of Justices unanimously overturned the tribunal’s judgment, which initially upheld Abbo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the rightful winner of the Senatorial seat. They found merit in an appeal filed by Amos Yohanna, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate.
Senator Abbo, known for an infamous 2019 incident where he assaulted Ms. Osimibibra Warmate in an Abuja sex toy shop, had previously been ordered by a Federal Capital Territory High Court to pay N50 million in damages. This decision was later upheld by an appellate court panel led by Justice Jamilu Tukur.
Abbo acknowledged his removal from the legislative house in a Facebook post on Monday and urged his supporters and constituents to remain calm.”
