Aku Uka Urges INEC to Decentralize Voter Registration, Backs Credible LG Polls in Taraba

The AKU UKa of the Jukun Kingdom, Manu Ishaku Adda Ali, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to decentralize voter registration across Taraba State to ensure wider participation of eligible citizens.

The monarch made the appeal when he received the Chairman of the Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC), Dr. Philip Duwe, at his palace in Wukari Local Government Area.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the concentration of INEC registration centers only in Wukari headquarters, noting that many communities eager to register are left without access. The revered traditional ruler urged stakeholders to mobilize residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) so they can exercise their franchise in future elections.

On the upcoming local government elections, slated for November 8, 2025, the Aku Uka pledged full support to TSIEC, commending Dr. Duwe for his commitment and tireless efforts toward a free, fair, and credible electoral process.

Earlier in his remarks, Dr. Duwe said the visit was part of TSIEC’s engagements with traditional rulers to seek royal blessings and foster peace ahead of the polls. He lauded Governor Agbu Kefas for his support and assured citizens that the Commission is prepared to conduct credible elections.

Accompanied by Commissioners and senior management staff, the TSIEC Chairman noted that the Commission will extend similar visits to other first-class chiefs across the state in the days leading up to the elections.
