Adamawa Police arrest 4 for defrauding job applicants

Three individuals have been apprehended by the Adamawa State Police Command for defrauding members of the public under the guise of offering employment opportunities within the state government. The main suspect, Bello Suleiman, aged 59 and employed as a staff officer at the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) in Yola, allegedly orchestrated the scheme with accomplices Muhammed Ahmed Attahir, 31, and Abdulrahman Bashir Ahmad, 23.

According to Suleiman Nguroje, spokesperson for the command, the investigation began following a complaint from Dr. Suleiman Saidu Bashir, executive chairman of the Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Agency (ADSPHCA). Dr. Bashir reported that imposters were posing as representatives of the agency, duping unsuspecting residents with counterfeit employment letters for positions in the state civil service.

Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris ordered an immediate investigation into the matter, resulting in the arrest of the suspects. Nguroje disclosed that the perpetrators, in collaboration with others, issued fraudulent appointment letters to more than ten victims, each paying N400,000. The victims were instructed to visit a specific FRC office for data capture.

Recovered from the suspects were critical pieces of evidence including an HP laptop, a thumbprint machine, and four fabricated appointment letters. The items have been secured as exhibits in the ongoing investigation, which aims to track down additional suspects who are currently on the run. You may also like this.

In response to these developments, the command has urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious individuals to law enforcement authorities. This caution comes as part of efforts to prevent similar fraudulent activities and protect residents from falling victim to scams promising false employment opportunities.
