Adamawa Hotels: Dateline for CCTV Installation Unchanged – Farauta
Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Kaletapwa George Farauta has reaffirmed that the six weeks ultimatum given to all hotel operators in the state to install CCTV surveillance cameras in their premises remains unchanged.
Farauta was speaking on Tuesday when she received report from the 7-man committee constituted by government to investigate the killing of a lady at Happy Day Guest Inn in the state capital recently.
Recall that on the 18th January 2024 around 8:00 pm, woman whose name was given as Bilkisu Alh Ali was beheaded in the Happy Day Guest Inn by suspected ritualist who lured her into the hotel room.
Submitting the report, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism submitted by Aloysius Babadoke explained that there is significant compliance on the installation of Close Circuit Television CCT cameras for surveillance in the hotels.
Babadoke said the ministry has also intensified sensitization process geared towards curtailing future occurrence.
Among the recommendations by the committee includes proper registration, facial and valid identification, metal detector, proper documentation and training of hotel staff.
