The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the early hours of Friday arrested a Ex-Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku at his Abuja residence.


The former governor was arrested over an alleged fraud of N27bn and at least 15-count charges have been filed against Ishaku and he would be arraigned in court soon as evidence against him have been compiled.
Dele Oyewale, the spokesman of the EFCC who confirmed the arrest, but declined further comments.
“Yes, he’s in our custody right now. We have been investigating him covertly since he left as the State governor. There a lot of financial malfeasance he perpetrated,” Oyewale said.
Ishaku’s arrest amidst face-off between the anti-graft agency and the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, who was alleged to have stolen N80.2bn while in office.
