Religious Freedom; Empowering youth for Peace through diague

The “Live What You Believe” project, in partnership with international organizations  for peacebuilding and social justice (PSJ), recently organized a successful youth conference in Adamawa state with the titled “The Youth Move for Religious Freedom and Peace.” This gathering brought together young leaders from diverse backgrounds to delve into the crucial role of religious freedom in nurturing global peace. The conference celebrated Religious Freedom as a Fundamental Human Right, featuring an impactful keynote address by Mr. Ishaya Inuwa Durkwa on the significance of religious freedom as a fundamental human right. The speaker emphasized how protecting freedom fosters tolerance and understanding among different faiths, laying a foundation for peace and coexistence in societies.

At the core of the event was a lively panel discussion showcasing the experiences and insights of youth representatives from various religious communities. These emerging leaders shared personal anecdotes and strategies for promoting coexistence, highlighting the unique role of youth in driving interfaith dialogue and understanding. Their perspectives were not only inspiring but also demonstrated the power of youth-led initiatives in peacebuilding.

Moreover, youth conference featured an award ceremony, where Hon. Yohana Sabo, representing Mubi South Local Government, was recognized for his outstanding display of religious tolerance and significant contributions. He was honored as a Freedom of Religion Peace Ambassador during the event.

The conference concluded with a compelling call to action, urging young individuals to actively advocate for religious freedom and peace within their communities. This call stressed the importance of advocacy, dialogue, and continuous education in fostering tolerance and understanding among diverse faiths.
